Cryosurgery freezes affected tissues, causing cells in the treated area to die off as a result. This allows non-invasive removal of superficial and small lumps like warts, cysts, skin tags or small tumours anywhere on the skin, eyelids or gums without the need for general anaesthesia and major surgery. Your pet can be in and out in minutes with minimal discomfort, no fasting, no down time, no cutting or bleeding and no stitches. It is almost painless and stress – free and provides a good alternative to traditional surgery, especially in more elderly patients. Sedation may still be required if your pet is fractious or if the lump is in a sensitive or inaccessible area (eg. in the mouth, eyes).

The CryoPen works with extreme precision of up to 1mm and emits a fine jet of nitrous oxide under high pressure, reducing any collateral damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Each session takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on the size and number of lesions and amount of prep time required. Usually 2-4 sessions are required, depending on the nature of the lesions.
